Obituary

Willie affectionally called Bill, began this life's journey in Bogalusa, LA on December 18, 1943. He was born to Freddie Wilson and hazel Robertson Wilson. He attended Central Memorial High School in Bogalusa and graduated in 1962.

He joined the United States Army in June of 1962, and was honorably discharged. During his time in the military, Bill was a member of the First Team chorus. the First Team chorus sung for the Bob Hope Telethon and with the Bob Hope USO Tour in North Korea and other cities, where his fellow soldiers were fighting. After returning from military service, Bill married Yvonne "ROE" Otis in Bogalusa, LA on December 26, 1965. They moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1966. They had two beautiful daughters, Rona "Sugs" and Kemba "Stinker".

Bill sung with the world renowned Coasters for years and returned home to work for the United States Postal Service in 1991. Even while working for the Postal Office he was still singing with a group called Sly Slick and Wicked for years. You could still hear his baritone voice belting out notes. Bill also took a course at Southwest College in Computer Science and earned his Certificate of Completion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Althea Wilson, and sister Geraldine Wilson Guidry.

As you can see, Bill was a devoted husband and father as we look at the list of his offspring. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Yvonne "ROE", and daughters, Rona Wilson and Kemba Wilson; eight grandchildren: Keshawn, althea, Marcus, Jeric, HayLee, April, Gabriel and Roenan (his beloved buddy0; six great grandchildren: Keishawn Jr, Jaelyn, Sky, Dijon, Kaleb, Kameron; two sisters, Althea Wilson Bell (Texas) and Etta Harris (Los Angeles); brother Jesse Kilpatrick; nephew Fredrick Bell and niece Rhonda Williams; great nephews, Silas Bell and Kyle Williams; great nieces, Tanisha Schuchman and Courtney Bowman; and a host of other relatives and friends.
