Wilkie Jackson, daughter of the late Willie Ruff Jackson and Mattie Thompson-Jackson, was born in Tylertown, MS on November 30, 1923. She passed away peacefully on Thursday March 17, 2016 at Rest Haven Living Center in Bogalusa, LA after a brief illness at the age of 92.
She united and attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Dexter, MS at an early age until she relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana where she would spend the next forty years working at the Roosevelt Hotel as a cook assistant and later as a cook before retiring to enjoy the easy life.
She is survived by her sister, Queen Ester Daniels, Marrero,LA., four brothers, Lawrence Jackson of Lafayette, LA, John Jackson(Clotial) Varnado, LA., Airl Jackson (Rose)New Orleans, LA., Bobby Jackson (Stephanie) New Orleans, LA. She also leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, in the chapel of Cook Richmond Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Terrence August, Officiating
