Virgie Lee Ratliff Brown was born to the late Robert Ratliff and Annie Stine Badon on March 21, 1933 in Tylertown, MS. She departed this life on October 14, 2015 in Independence, LA. She was raised by Bonita and Robert Ratliff, and educated in the Tangipahoa Parish School System.
Virgie accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully worked as an usher.
Virgie worked mainly in the oyster industry. After retiring, she worked as a foster grandparent. She was a member of the Eastern Star Randance #125 and served as a Worldly Matron for a season.
She was joined in marriage to her life partner the late Lawrence Brown. To this union they raised eight (8) children: Harrison Brown, Jerry Cade of Roseland, LA, Larry Wilkerson of Amite, LA, Lawrence Brown, Jr. and Dwayne Brown of Roseland, Evelyn Harris of Baton Rouge, Dianne Brown and Deidra Brown of Independence, LA and Robert Ratliff of Independence; and a sister, Tamara Ratliff. She touched many lives and was loved by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bonita Ratliff and Annie Stine Badon, her husband, Lawrence Brown, three children: Jerry Ratliff, Harrison Brown and Dianne Brown
She leaves to cherish her memory five (5)sons, two (2) daughters, two (2) nieces, twenty-three (23) grandchildren and a host of great grands and other family members.
