IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sandra Story
Mills
September 20, 1941 – November 12, 2021
Sandra Story Mills was born on September 20, 1941 to Robert Theodore and Mildred Bradford in Chicago, Illinois.
Three siblings, Robert (Cookie), Rodney, and Rochelle(Cheesie) preceded her in death, as did her parents and the love of her life, Calvin Mills Sr.
Sandra's early years were spent in Los Angeles, California with her aunt Catherine Rainey and in New Orleans, Louisiana where she became a "True New Orleanian" through and through.
She possessed a unique power of magnetism which allowed her to draw people, opportunities, and all manner of good. She touched many lives with her joyful free spirit and her commitment to service. Her career path, like her life was filled with variety and she easily turned work into fun experiences. She returned to school after her only child, Calvin Mills Jr., was born and obtained a BS degree in substance abuse counseling at Southern University making her the first person in the State of Louisiana to receive this degree.
Sandra taught school at Andrew H. Wilson Elementary School, where she shared much joy and love with her students.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memory, her son Calvin Mills Jr. (of whom she was most proud), her daughter-in-law Brittany Mills, three grandchildren, Aiden, Baylor, Bryce Mills. one brother Marlon Bradford, two aunts, Catherine Rainey of Los Angeles and Helen Sutton of Metropolis, IL, three sister-friends, Jean Knight, Diana Bajoie, and Leatrice Williams Ross. She is also survived by a host of nieces (Michelle (Fifi). Raquel, and Bianca Bradford), nephew (Marlon Bradford II), cousins and friends that are considered family.
The city has lost a true New Orleans ambassador.
