Ora Lee "Duke" Peters was born December 15,1924 to the late Jessie and Julia Platter Peters in Angie, LA. Duke was a resident of Rest Haven Living Center, Bogalusa, LA for the last six years.

Ora Lee "Duke" departed this life on July 2, 2017 at Our Lady Of the Angels Hospital, Bogalusa, LA.

She united with FordsChapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved her membership to Greenville Baptist Church in Hammond, LA under the leadership of Rev. Nolan Clayton in 1980.

She was affectionately known as Ms. Duke and had a reputation of being loving, kind, and generous to everyone.s
She maintained good health until the age of 87. Sister Peters enjoyed fishing and cooking biscuits for her nieces and friends.

Sister Petersdid not have a daughter but enjoyed claiming many as her "daughter."

She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Jessie Mae Magee of Angie, La; one brother, Marshall (Zella) Peters of Moss Point, MS; a speciL niece, Willene Griffin of Baton Rouge, LA; a special nephew, L. V. Peters of Angie, LA; a special godson, Joy "Poot" Beal-Mason of Hammond, LA; three god-grand children: Davonte, D'Shanti and Malayan; one daughter-in-law, Asaline Nelson, Bogalusa, LA and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by one son, Jobie Nelson, seven brothers: A. B . Galloway, James Ray Ozell, Willester, Roscoe, Ira and Walter Peters and two sisters, Alice Peters and Kathleen Mingo.

Funeral Service: Saturday, July 10, 2017 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home at 1:00pm, Reverend Charles Magee, Pastor AME Zion Church. Interment: Fords Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Sandy Hook, MS
