Onieka Shantelle (Nea) Jones, born October 1, 1982 in New Orleans, La. under the love and care of Gail Y. Peters (mother), Sherman Peters (Grandpa), Ora M. Peters, (Grandma), and Toyshika M. Jones (Sister). Onieka excelled in her life because of all of their love and devotion through Jesus Christ. She attended Bibleway Baptist Church located at 4216 North Derbinguy St. New Orleans, La. under the leadership of Rev. Roosevelt Lafayette, Sr. in which Nea was converted in the year of 1994 at the tender age of 12 years old.
She was and active member of bible class and Sunday church services. She attended Joseph A. Hardin Elementary school, Alfred Laueless Junior/Senior High School, and Sarah T. Reed High School. She was a brillant student as well and liked academics (her favorite subject was math), she also wanted to be a cheerleader, and she wanted to attend college to become a scientist. Through many obstacles and set-backs Onieka completed her scholastic journey graduating from Sarah T. Reed High School in the year of 2005. She enjoyed family, eating her favorite food which was pizza, a lover of God, His word, and singing God's praises. During her struggles in life she continued to have an upbeat spirit and she was a fighter until the end. We are going to miss you sweet-a-heart-a, my sweet baby,....Nea.
She leaves to mourn a loving mother Gail Y. Peters and a loving and devoted sister Toyshika M. Jones, my grandparents Sherman Peters, and Ora M. Peters. Memories: grandparents , dad, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.Visitation will be Friday,December 21,2012 9-11 at Mary's Chapel U.M.C.Funeral services will be Friday, December 21,2012 11am at Mary's Chapel U.M.C.Intermet Robinson Cemetery
