Cora Mae Robinson Gooden was born on August 30, 1952, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to the late Clyde and Velmon Robinson.
Cora attended Bogalusa High School in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and graduated in 1971. In 1972, Cora moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she began building her life and career. In October 1974, she welcomed her first child, Angela Robinson. Cora also began working at General Motors Fisher Body, where she would eventually meet the love of her life, her husband, Samuel Gooden.
Cora and Samuel came together in union under God on August 4,1979 in Detroit, MI. From this union they had two children Joi and Samantha Gooden. Cora loved and cherished her husband dearly. They did everything together; she constantly spoke highly about how blessed she was to have him in her life.
Cora had a deeply personal relationship with God. She accepted the Lord at an early age and loved him with all her heart. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she made sure to instill that same love for God in her children, grandchildren, and everyone she came across.
Cora also known as "Cookie" was a beautiful person, both inside and out. She was a giver who always made sure that everyone around her was okay. She had a caring heart and was always willing to help others. Cora was also very straightforward and never hesitated to tell you exactly how she felt. Her honesty and authenticity were qualities that many people loved and appreciated about her. Cora had a love for fashion and enjoyed finding great deals. One of her favorite pastimes was resale shopping, where she could find unique items and enjoy the thrill of a great bargain.
Cora leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Samuel Gooden; three daughters, Angela Robinson, Joi and Samantha Gooden; and three grandchildren, D'Angelo and Azavier Robinson, and Madison Gooden all of Detroit, Michigan. She also leaves behind two brothers, Gregory Robinson (Barbara) from San Antonio, TX and Michael Robinson of Bogalusa, LA, her Sister-in-Law Sandra Washington and her Special sister friend Luceria (Pat) Harry along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Velmon Robinson; Five brothers, Clyde, Charles, Felton, Joseph and Jessie Earl Robinson and Three sisters; Sarah Haywood, Ella Gardenia Hamilton and Mary Lee (Troy Lee) Robinson.
Cora's love, faith, honesty, generosity, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Through she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. May she rest peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord.
