Mr. Kolufax N Spikes

On Monday, June 15, 2026, Deacon Kolufax N. "Coco" Spikes, affectionately known by many as "Co Daddy Love" peacefully answered the Master's call and exchanged labor for reward.  While resting at his home in Varnado, Louisiana, he received his promotion to Glory and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the presence of his sister April.

Deacon Spikes was born on September 7, 1965, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to Juanita W. Spikes.  From an early age, he developed a spirit of determination and resilience that would carry him throughout life's many challenges.  Though he experienced his share of obstacles and setbacks, perseverance, strength, and unwavering faith in God.  He graduated from Varnado High School in May 1986.

Following graduation, Kolufax relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was employed by the Golf Club and Popeyes.  when an opportunity arose to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia, with his sister, April Walker, and his late brother-in-law, Frederick Walker, his life took an extraordinary turn.  Through divine connection, met Rickey and Cynthia Walker, owners of the world-renowned Universal Soul Circus.   This opportunity allowed him to travel extensively and experience places and cultures around the world.

While residing in Atlanta, Decon Spikes faithfully served at Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Frazier Allen.  He often spoke fondly of his time there because of the ministry reminded him of his home church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Varnado, Louisiana, under the leadership of the late Dr. A.S. Nelson.

Upon returning home to Louisiana, became employed with Our Lady of the Angels in Bogalusa.  In December 2019, God saw fit to send the brother, Bishop A. Dausha Spikes, home to pastor Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana.  Deacon Spikes faithfully united with the ministry and became an active worker and servant.  When Bishop Spikes later founded New Beginnings ministries in April 2021, Kolufax followed his pastor and continued serving faithfully.

Whether cleaning the sanctuary, ushering worshippers, assisting in ministry operations or working in his favorite place--the church kitchen--Deacon Spikes never sought recognition.  He simply desired to serve.  After one year of faithful labor at new Beginnings Ministries, God elevated Brother Kolufax Spikes and consecrated him to the sacred office of Deacon.

Even as his health began to decline, his commitment to God never wavered.  He remained a prayer warrior, a faithful servant, and an encourager to many.  His life reflected his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, as he continually demonstrated that true strength comes through Christ.

To know Kolufax was to know a man who loved deeply.  He was a devoted father, a cherished son, a loving brother, a loyal friend, and a man whose presence brought joy to those around him.  He enjoyed cooking, fellowship, playing spades, and spending time with family and friends.

One of his greatest passions was his unwavering love for the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Family and friends affectionately referred to him as an ambassador for Steeler Nation.  His enthusiasm for the black and gold was unmatched, and one of his final projects was creating his own "Steelers Cave" a special place where he could enjoy the team he loved so much.

Above all else, Deacon Kolufax N. Spikes was a man of faith.  He served God faithfully, loved people genuinely, and left lasting impact on every life he touched.  His journey was marked be service, humility, perseverance, and love.  He truly lived a life that reflected the words "Well done thou good and faithful servant"

Deacon Spikes leaves to cherish his precious memories: His loving and devoted mother, Juanita W. Spikes: Three beloved children, Jyrion Spikes(12); Jaleah Spikes(10), and Kolufax A. Spikes (9), all of Varnado, Louisiana: Five brothers: Amos (Loris) Spikes; Luther (Sharon) Spikes and Tommy Spikes all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Bishop A. Dausha (Angela) Spikes of Varnado/Mandeville, Louisiana; and Dr. Andryl (LaRhonda) Spikes of Covington, Louisiana; Three sisters: April U. Walker (2nd Mother) of Douglasville, Georgia; LaShelda Q Spikes and Precious R Spikes of Varnado, Louisiana. Two cousins raised as sisters: Susie Haynes of San Bernardino, Ca and Phillis a. Haynes of Bogalusa, Louisiana; His beloved uncle Johnny "Black" Weary; His Beloved aunt, Arlene Weary; A very special friend, Lena Mangrum, also his close friend, Janel Brown also a host of other siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family and friends.
