The Life Reflections
of
Moses Latimore Richmond

Deacon Moses Latimore Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 24, 2012. He was born on October 19, 1923.

Moses was the fifth child of ten children born to his parents, the late Mr. Benjamin Franklin Richmond and Mrs. Bessie Collins Richmond of Jefferson Davis County, Prentiss, Mississippi.

He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Alvia Mae Perry- Richmond and to this union was born three sons, Roscoe Noel Richmond, Darryl Ronell Richmond, and Michael Angelo Richmond who preceded him in death. He had five brothers; Jesse, Sidney, Silas, Jonas, Willie C., and three sisters; Fannie Mae, Lula Mae, and Bessie Irene who preceded him in death.

At an early age he confessed Christ as his personal Savior. He was united with South Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Prentiss, Ms. After moving to Bogalusa he joined Metropolitan Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon. He served their faithfully. He later joined Second Baptist Church where he served until his death.
He attended and graduated from Prentiss Normal Institute Highschool.
After serving honorable in the United States Army during World War II he attended an graduated from Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science and further studies at Cinncinatti School of Mortuary Science. He also attended Business Seminars at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La.

During his life span he received many awards of distinguished accomplishments such as; Louisiana Funeral Directors & Morticians Association where he served in the 1960's as President and an also served on the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. He received a Dedication Award in which he was a member over twenty-five years; a member of Wisdom Lodge #123 F&AM, Bogalusa, La., NAACP Bogalusa Branch, Board member of Gaylord Corporation and Board of Directors of Washington State Bank an member of the Mississippi Embalmers State Association. He was a Board Member of Sullivan Vocational School.
He was the first to work with the H.W.A. Mitchell to form the Washington Parish Association of the N.A.A.C.P; to work with Mr. Joe Dean and others to file suit against Washington Parish to allow Blacks to vote. The first black businessman to give and support the Civil Rights Movement. Mr. Richmond allowed lawyers and Civil Right Leaders to hold meetings at his establishment. Mr. Richmond assisted many family members as well as others in pursuing their endeavors, their education and business ventures. He is the owner of the Cook-Richmond Funeral Home and Richmond & Son's Properties.

Mr. Richmond touched so many lives with his goodness, kindness and his love. Humbly, he served his entire family and all of humanity with whom he came in contact. He was deeply loved and highly respected by all who knew him or even knew of him.

Surviving to cherish his memories are: His lovely wife, Alvia Mae Perry-Richmond of 63 years; two sons, Roscoe Noel Richmond of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Darryl Ronell "Ronnie" Richmond of Orlanda, Florida, four grandchildren Dr. Tanisha Richmond of Dayton, OH., Jasmine Richmond of Bogalusa, La. Astin Richmond of New Orleans, La. Jamal (Candice) Richmond of Bogalusa, La., five great grandchildren, one sister, Edna Richmond Foxworth, of St. Louis, Missouri, 2 sister-in-laws Claudine Richmond of Oakland, Ca., Ruthie (Charles) Stull, Las Vegas, Nv., 2 brother-in-laws, Archie Perry III of Bogalusa, La., Donell (Sarah) Perry of Alexandria, La. and many other relative and friends. Special caregivers Regina Greely and Kenneth Williams. A host nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
Visitation will be March 3, Saturday from 12 p.m.-5p.m. Family Hour 6-7p.m. at Cook-Richmond. Funeral Service will be Sunday, March 4 at 2 p.m. at Bethelehem Baptist Church. Rev.
