Obituary
Sister Mildred Weary Spikes Peters was born on September 1, 1934 to the parentage of the late Edna Elzy Peters and Henry Crumedy. She was adopted by the late Oscar & Mamie Weary.
Sister Mildred joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful servant there until her heath failed her. She served in several capacities in the church, and was president of the senior choir for 29 years.
Sister Mildred was formerly educated at Wesley Ray High School and continued her education at Southern University & A & M College in Baton Rouge, LA. She taught school in the Washington Parish School in the Washington Parish School System for 40 years.
Sister Mildred united in holy matrimony with the late Jessie Spikes and to this union two (2) children were born. She later united in holy matrimony with the late Jesse Peters.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three (3) daughters: LaTony Weary (Charles, Sr.) of Angie, LA, Lori Henry (Phillip) of Sterling Heights, MI, Clara Wilson of Baton Rouge, LA; one son, Alfred Hines (Shandra) of Bogalusa, LA; stepchildren: Sheila Brown (Milton) of Belle Chase, LA, Stella Morris & Royce Morris of Bogalusa, LA; two nephews that she raised as her own: Russell Cole (Kimberlyn) of Denham Springs, Bronco Cole of Jackson, MS. Godchildren: Ilean L. Jourdan (Melvin) of Katy, TX, Alma Martin (Jim) of Angie, LA, Shawn Dillon (Bobby) of Angie, LA, Lula B. Tanner of Baton Rouge, LA, Houston Booth of LaPlace, LA, Robert Booth, Jr. of Sun, LA, Cheryl J. Peters of TX and Jhyren Pigott of Angie, LA. She is also survived by three (3) sisters: Seleather Mark (Maurice) of MS, Edgie L. Crumedy and Beatrice Crumedy of MS, one brother, Collis "Peter" Crumedy (Yolanda) . Grandchildren: Charles E. Weary, Jr., and Madysen M. Weary of LA, Jordan A. Henry of MI, Phillip Henry J. (Lori) of MI, Joseph Henry (Val) of GA. A special cousin, Willie M. Cole of LA, a special friend and caregiver, Ms. Lila "Nita" Williams of LA, a special niece, Ms. Patricia May Jones of LA, a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a brother, Walter Collins Crumedy and a sister, Henrietta Alexander.
