McCoy Dyson Jr., Born June 10, 1943  in Sunnyhill, LA to the union of McCoy Dyson Sr., and Lula Bell Briggs Dyson.  In 1965 McCoy Dyson Jr., and Doretha Dyson were united in wedlock.  To this union four children was born; Patrick Dyson, Phillip Dyson (deceased) Phyfelisha Dyson (deceased), and LaMonica Dyson.

In 1966 McCoy and Doretha relocated to Benton Harbor, Michigan, where McCoy worked for Standard Alloyed for a number of years until he became disabled.  McCoy returned to Kentwood, LA where he remained until the Lord called him home on January 9, 2014.

Preceding him in death were his father, McCoy Dyson, Sr., his mother, Lula Bell Briggs Dyson, two of his children, Phillip and Phyfelisha Dyson; his brother, James Roy Dyson and his nephew, Jamelle L. Dyson, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doretha Dyson of Kentwood, LA, his son, Patrick Dyson of Boutee, LA, his daughter LaMonica Dyson of Mandeville La.  Grandchildren:  Laterica Brumfield, Keenya Wilson, Pierre Chamese, Kelly Briggsw, Amythyst Vernon, Ke'Aundra Wilson, Angelique Noil, Sha'Vonne D. Dyson, Patrick S. Dyson Jr. Iriaon A. Dyson, James C. Walker Jr; his great-grandchildren; Shyteria Stalls, Tanyela Brumfield, Steve Wilson, Eric Jackson, Jr., Zahria N. Dyson, Delizayh A. Dyson, JaMeia S. Walker.  His sisters: Georgia Taylor (Ned) of Gardena, CA, Rosa Funchyes  (Lafayette) of Kentwood, LA; his brother, Lawrence Dyson (Bessie) of Wilmer, LA; his sister-in-law, Gwenda Dyson of Lawndale, CA, widow of his brother James Dyson (deceased); three aunts; Idella Magee of Kentwood, LA, Verna Briggs of Hammond, LA and Crimal Williamson of Los Angels, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


He departed this life on January 09, 2014 . Funeral service where held on January 15, 2014 at the Union Chapel AME Church . Rev. Sherman Berry, Pastor- officiated Internment - Union Chapel Cemetery.
