Obituary

Mrs. Mattie Lee Brister was called home in the evening hours of Monday, August 07, 2023.

Mattie L. Brister, daughter of the Late Fairley and Kathline Mingo, was born on September 13, 1950 in Bogalusa,La. Early in life, she met her late husband, Jackie Ray and through this union, she entered motherhood, She enjoyed fishing, watching sports (loved the Lakers and the New Orleans Saints) cooking (often times for large gatherings in her younger years) and spending time with family and friends (who would usually end up becoming extended family to her). Many people would agree that no one could fry fish like she did, Sunday football, cheering on the  New Orleans Saints will never be the same. Her home has always been the gathering place, and keeping in touch with family was important as well.

After living in Angie for so long, she became well known in her community rather it be for her exquisite

Fishing capabilities or just being plain ole "Mat"! While family isn't perfect, they were sure perfect to her.

She loved her family not the conventional way, but in a unique quite necessary way. Over the years she dealt with a host of health issues, but remained strong and determined all the way through. She loved helping people whenever she could, and would give whatever she had to those in need.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Jackie Ray Brister, Sisters, Dorthoy Peters and Mazie McGowan, brothers Ulies Peters, FA Mingo and Author Mingo

She is survived by her 9 children, Leon Mingo of Angie, La, Janey Brister of Angie, La, Jackie Brister of Angie, La.
