Margie was born in Memphis, TN on August 7, 1944 to the union of George, Sr. and Helen Scott; she was the fifth child of eight. Her parents, brothers, George Robert, Standley Leon and sister, Joyce Ann preceded her in death.
She was a proud alumni and majorette of Booker T. Washington High School. Her family relocated to Los Angeles, CA where she graduated from Manual Arts High School and attended Los angeles Trade Tech where she met life-long friends Harold and Marilyn Hicks and her future husband.
Margie married John A. Robinson, to this union two children, Jewel Arne' and Jason Aain were born. Margie loved and was very proud of her children, who often reminisce of their blissful childhood. A born leader, Margie was know to organize family functions. She relished the time spent with family and was thee for them whenever they needed her. The pillar of her family, she was frequently called upon for advice, because everyone knew tht "Aunt Margie didn't play." She possessed a keen business sense even as a youth, she helped her brother Stanly sell Jet magazines all over Memphis. Hobbies and intrrests included travel and bowling, but sewing was her true passion.
Always thirsting for knowledge, Margie received her Associates of Arts Degree at Southwest College, however, that wasn't enough and she enrolled and graduated from Marinello's School of Beauty. She opened the Winner's Circle Beauty Salon" a year later ande was well known for her unique style of coloring and undetectable weaves (lol).
Margie rededicated her life to Christ in 1983 and never stopped praising the Lord! She united with Neighborhood Community church under the pastorate of Rev. Xavier T. Carter. She served on the usher board and in the choir. She was the director of Christian Released Time, Inc., from 1989-2001. Margie decided to pursue her studeies in Christian Education, graduating from Los Angeles Bible College, Los Angeles, CA in 1991, and obtain her Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Leadership from Biola University in 1993.
Margie and Landis fell in love and were married on June 18, 1988. Because of this union, she gained three children, Bryan, Felicia and Kelly. Landis and Margie relocated to Louisiana when he retired in 2001. They united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Angie, LA where Rev. A. L. Nelson is the pastor. Here she remained and worked faithfully until her health began to fail.
Margie was an extraordinary woman who lived life to the fullest with great passion humor and love. Her precious memories will be cherished by her husband, Landis; to daughters, Jewel Cryer (Vincent), Felicia Rice (Carson); three sons, Jason Robinson, Bryan Roberts (Vicky), and Kelly Roberts (Lisa); four sisters, Shirley Butler, Bertha Grand (Cletis), Faith Luiting and Kay Johnson. Sixteen grandchildren: Jade, Eboni, Damon, Jon'Naye, Desmond, John, Jacoby, Jordan, Roderick, Nathan, Jacory, Jawaun, and Kelly Jr.; one god-son, T. J. Broussard; mother-in-law, Lillian (Lit) Roberts; two sisters-in-law, Rose Walls and Deborah Robinson (Danny); four brothers-in-law, Clifford Roberts (JoAnn), Don Roberts (Doretha), Gary Roberts, and Hollis Roberts, Jr. (Marietta); special friends, Maily and Harold Hicks, Earline Broussard, Evelyn Perkins,other relatives, exteded family and friends.
Funeral service were held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Angie, LA with Dr. A. L. Nelson, Officiating. Interments Live Oak Cemetery.
