Obituary

I have fought the good fight, I have finished he race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who longed for His appearing.
II Timothy 4:7,8

"For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease."
Job 14:7
On Tuesday, November 19, 2013, Lester Brown departed this life after 71 years. His death followed a lengthy illness, during which he was cared for and surrounded by his family.
Lester was born on September 26, 1942 to Sarah Brown. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his aunt, Liza Brown. He lived all of his life in Washington Parish and was well known and liked throughout the community. Lester loved building and worked in construction. He was always willing to give advice and lend a hand when needed. He helped many a neighbor and friends with their projects, sometimes without being asked. He devoted many hours to the remodel of his home church, New Jerusalem. His true passion was architectural drawing, and he created beautiful and detailed drawings.
He was united in holy matrimony to Burnell Toomer on July 7, 1973. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage. To that union their only child was born, Keisha.
He received Christ as his personal savior and was baptized at New Jerusalem Church. He was a member until his illness prevented him from attending regularly.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Burnell Toomer Brown of Franklinton, La; two daughters, Keisha (Ike) Allen of Bogalusa and Beverly Martin, of Franklinton, La.; one grandson, Lakendrick Martin of Franklinton, La.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church from 10-12 noon following with the Funeral Service. Rev. Johnny Causey, Sr. Officiating. Interment Brown Cemetery
