Obituary

Leslie Peters was born on June 8, 1953, to Mrs.Earnestine Peters and the late Mr.Leslie Peters Sr. in Angie, Louisiana. Junior, as he was affectionately called by many, departed this life at his home on August 30, 2012 in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Bro. Leslie Peters, a devoted husband, caring father and loving grandfather was baptized at an early age at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church. He later joined Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana under the leadership of Dr. Raymond E. Mims. There he enjoyed singing in the Senior Choir and attended Sunday School Class. He was always ready to lend a helping hand by using his gift of cooking for the church. The youth and adults of the church anxiously waited for Monday nights to see what specialty "Bro. Les" was cooking for auxiliaries.

Leslie Jr. graduated in 1971 from Wesley Ray School in Angie, Louisiana. He received a four year music scholarship to Jackson State University where he was a member of the Sonic Boom Band. After attending college for several semesters he decided to join the United States Army. He served his country during the Vietnam Era. He was later honorably discharged after his tour in Korea.

Leslie Peters touched many lives with his wonderful sense of caring, love of cooking and many life stories. He enjoyed living life to the fullest, it was his way or NO WAY and at the end of the day he was still loved. He enjoyed cooking for his family, friends and church family. He often teased his children saying "Yall grew up eating duck, turtle, deer, squirrel, rabbit and all types of wildlife." He loved to entertain his grandchildren and himself by sitting under the carport playing his many instruments, singing and listening to a variety of music. Anyone that knew him, knew that his TOP PRIORITY was his wife & grandchildren. His world was centered around caring and providing for them. If he had one of those "June frowns" on his face, all it took was for one of his grand babies to walk thru the door and say "PawPaw". That frown turned into a beautiful SMILE!

He leaves to cherish his memories his dear mother, Mrs. Earnestine Peters; his devoted & lovely wife that he was united in Holy Matrimony on November 12, 1983 Mrs. Carolyn Ann Peters; his four children, Jemal A. Walker of Tempe, AZ, Gwendolyn (Aaron) Johnson of Dallas, TX, Dana M.
