Larry Donnell Johnson was born September 24, 1955 to Aristine and Willie Robert Johnson in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was the fourth of their ten children.

He gave his life to Christ at an early age at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He served as a member throughout his childhood and adult life and served the church in various ways through the years.

Larry graduated in 1974 from Bogalusa High School. He worked locally painting for businesses, the local community and the neighborhood. He showed great talent and passion for painting. He also worked offshore near New Orleans for many years. He was very active in his community, helping neighbors and others in their times of need.

Larry departed this life on September 23, 2024 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Johnson, his parents, Aristine and Willie Robert Johnson.; his siblings, Christine- Johnson- May, Johnny Lee Johnson.; and Earnestine Johnson- Porter; two nephews Mitchell Johnson and Myron R. Harriel and his beloved dog, Nino.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers Willie Alton Johnson, Robert E. Johnson, Alton Jr. Johnson (Michaela); sisters, Williestine Johnson- Harriel, Emma Jean Gatlin, Angela Johnson-Clarke(Kolbey); a very special friend, Valerie Cotton; a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
