With heavy yet celebratory hearts, we honor the life of LaDerrone "Jolly" Payne, who transitioned from this earthly life on November 13, 2024 at the age of 41. Jolly was born on November 28, 1982, to Regina Payne and the late Oscar Charles Sandifer.
Jolly accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. A.S. Nelson. His faith was a foundation upon which be built a life of love, devotion and inspiration to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Bogalusa High School. Class of 2001, Joly was well known throughout his community for his extraordinary musical talents.. Through his music, he became a beacon of hope for aspiring artists and youth, proof that dreams are achievable with dedication and encouragement ignited countless hearts, leaving a legacy that extends far beyond his songs.
Jolly's greatest roles in life were those of a devoted husband to Sephanie Ratliff-Payne and a loving father to Liyahric and Brodie Payne, his goddaughter, Shaniah Sims, his brother,LaDerrick Payne, his sisters, Beverly Sandifer and Trineshya (Ricardo) Morris, his aunts, Gwendolyn and Bertha Payne, his uncles, Keith Payne and Elgrie (Loletia) Lewis, his special first cousins Latoya Payne, his father-in-law, Darrell Jefferson, his mother-in-law Glenda Ratliff, his sisters-in law D'Andrea Jefferson and Catherine Ratliff and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Oscar Charles Sandifer, his maternal grandmother; Gloria Dean Payne, his paternal grandmother: Alma Cooper, 1 aunt Zelda Galloway and one uncle Brian Payne.
While Jolly's physical presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of music, mentorship and unwavering love will forever resound in the hearts of those he touched. Let us celebrate his life as he lived it. Boldly, Joyfully, and with a heart full of love.
