Obituary

Krsunthia Brooks Childs was born September 9, 1975 in Bogalusa, LA to the late Perry Brooks, Sr. and Vergie Mondy Brooks of Woodbridge, VA. She departed this life October 7, 2015.

Krsunthia began her education at Navy Vale Elementary in the Fairfax County Virginia school system and graduated from C. D. Hylton High School in the Prince William County school system. She continued her education at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA where she received her degree in Vocational Business Education. While attending Southern University, she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta. Krsunthia later received her Master's Degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.

After graduating from Southern in 1998, she returned to the Washington DC area where she was hired by the Prince William's school system. After three (3) years of teaching, she became a teacher on administrative assignment and later an assistant principal. In 2013, Krsunthia resigned from the Prince William School System and accept an Assistant Principal position in the St. Tammany Parish school system in Covington, LA until she began to have health problems.

She joined Merrefield Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined Neabsco Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joshua Speights where she was still a member.

She was preceded in death by her father, Perry Brooks, Sr., paternal grandparents, Gaudet and Retha Books; three uncles: Treanders Mondy, Jerry Brooks and Darryl Brooks.

Krsunthia leaves to mourn her mother, Vergie Mondy Brooks of Woodbridge, VA, two brothers, Perry Brooks Jr. of Hayward, CA, Ahmad Brooks (April) of San Jose, CA, maternal grandparents, Ora Williams, Virgil Mondy (Olivia), all of Angie, LA, paternal, fiancé, Amos Wilson of Mandeville, LA, 3 uncles: Larry Brooks of Plainfield, IL, Terry Brooks of Angie, LA, Gary Brooks of Missouri City, TX; 3 aunts: Yvonne Robinson, Sandra Bolton of Lithonia, GA, Faye Brooks of Bristow, VA; 2 nieces: Natalia Brooks, Anaiah Brooks; 3 god-children: Mia Banks, TyDarian Brooks, Jalen Marks, one god-brother, Adrian, one special aunt, Delores Mingo and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation is Tuesday, October 13, 2:00 - 6:00 pm at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa, LA. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015at 11:00 am at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, LA. Rev. Terrance August officiating.Interments in Dillon Cemetery.
