God saw you were weary so He did what He knew best. He gently closed your eyes and whispered, "come home my c hild and rest". The weary hours, the days of pain, the sleepless nights have passed. You bid no one farewell, not even a goodbye. You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why.

In the cool afternoon of December 8, 2014 the clouds of Glory rolled back and our heavenly Father receive unto Himself his son, John Maurice Garrett.

John Maurice Garrett was born December 26, 1963 to Carrie Lee and the late Theotas Garrett at Lallie Kemp Hospital in Independence, LA.

John was baptized at an early age at Midway COCHUSA under the leadership of Elder John Burris. A transformation occurred at the age of 25 when he recommitted his life to Christ in Cincinnati, OH. He truly loved the Lord.

He attended school in the St. Tammany Parish school system. John excelled in the sports that he played and was noted as being an outstanding athletic. The Lord graced John with an innate ability to figure out how "things" work without any formal training (he was a jack of all trades).

John had an infectious smile and laughter that not only could lighten a room but also could calm an agitated soul. He had a large and generous heart which touched his family and all those who were close to him. Above all John knew the Word of God and truly loved the Lord.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother Sis. Carrie L. Garrett of Folsom, LA. He was married to Jennifer Ducre and to this union one child was born, Ashley Ducre and her two brothers, Anthony Gayten and Justin Garrett. John will also leave to mourn a son Andreaux Blunt of Folsom, LA., three grandchildren: Ja'Niya Haynes, M'Kenzie Ducre, and Aaron Ducre. He leave to treasure his memory four sisters Brenda Collins, Margaret Andrews (Rick) and Yulonda James (Fred) and Felicia Garrett all of Folsom, LA. He leaves to treasure his memory his grandmother affectionatly known as Mama Edith Perry of Wilma, LA, John will be sadly missed by his cousins Bru8ce Warren and Stewart (Peanut) Garrett, and other dear friends. He was preceded ihn death by his father Theotas Garrett and two nieces Brittiney Garrett and Jessica Andrews as well as his paternal grandparents Theodore and Lucille Garrett. He will be sadly missed by aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives.

Services were held on Monday, December 15/2014 at Midway Church of Christ (Holiness) USA at 11:00 with Pastor Leroy Divinity, Jr. Officiating. Interments at Hay Hollow Cemetery, Folsom, LA
