Mrs. Jessie Mae Alford was born January 26, 1933. She transitioned into eternity on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 with her daughter by her side.
She was preceded by her husband Lavelle Alford, mother Lessie Dunbar, brother Sam and Nerny Dunbar, Sister Ollie Walker, children LaVerna, Deborah and Kenneth Alford, a grandson Seabrom Way and a great-granddaughter Nyshell Petree. She leaves to cherish, Daughters, Leslie Adams of Baltimore, MD.,Viola Alford of Gautier, MS., Ethel (Kenneth)Willis of West-Warrenton, N.C., Pearlie Alford of Bogalusa, LA, Shelley Henderson of Matthews, N.C. and Jo-Anna (Arthur) Smith of Waterburg, CT. One son Leonard Alford of East Haven, CT. sixteen grandchildren and a host of great great-grandchildren. God son Kenneth N. Peters of Bogalusa, LA, a special son DeCharles Warren of Hampton, CT. Host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A loving cousin Carrie Causey.
She graduated from Central Memorial High School in Bogalusa, LA, was married had 4 children before moving to Connecticut, worked at General Electric in Bridgeport, CT for many, many years. Then took college courses at Yale & U.B. and obtained different degrees. She was an ordained minister on January 19, 1986. She ministered in many places and pastored her own church in "1994" called "The Gospel Plough"(No man having put his hand to the plough and looking back is fit for the Kingdom Of God) Luke 91:62. Then she retired from G.E. and moved back to Bogalusa, LA.
