Obituary
Sister Janice Marie Lewis was born to Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Lewis on April 16, 1954. She was called home by the Angel of the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.
Janice joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. B. B. Moses. She continued her faithful membership under the leadership of Rev. Dr. A. S. Nelson, where she served on the Usher Board.
Janice was a loving, kind person, and a mother to many. Her home was always open to everyone. She shared her warm heart to everyone she met. Janice was an inspiration to her family. She provided personal care and love to many sick and elderly relatives. Our hearts are filed with sadness.
Janice graduated from Varnado High School in 1973. She later became a Certified Nursing Assistant.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Lewis of Varnado; two sons, Donald "Ro" (Nicole) Lewis Sr. of Oklahoma City, OK, and Scottland "Scott" Lewis of Bogalusa; three grandchildren, Donald Lewis Jr., Kourtnee Lewis of Oklahoma City, OK, and Passion Lewis of Bogalusa; one sister, Carolyn Devonnie (Cedric) Banks of Missouri City, TX, two brothers, Joe Edward (Alva) Lewis of Bogalusa and Elgrie (Loletia) Lewis of Angie; special friend Bobby Sartin; three special sons, Tyrik Payne, Raymond Henry Jr. of Varnado and Matthew (Daneeka) Washington of Franklinton; three special sisters, Cassandra Lewis, Evelyn "Tricia" Young and Mary (Craig) Wilson; four aunts; three uncles, and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Curtis (Harriet) Owens, Otis Henry and Charlie (Wilma)Lewis; her daughter Davonda Lewis; two brothers, Ronald Lewis and Donald Lewis.
Visitation were held on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Funeral Home from 2 - 6, and wake service followed from 6 - 9.
Funeral service were held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Jones Creek Road in Varnado at 11 am with the Rev. Dr. Alfonso Nelson officiating.
