Gloria Jean Ishman was born on November 10th, 1955 to James and Cora Ishman in New Orleans, LA, She was a 1973 graduate of Bogalusa High School.  On October 5th, 1991, she was united in matrimony to James Slocumn.  In 1996, Gloria joined Salter Chapel AME Church, where she was active in many departments.  In 2013, she united with Harry's Chapel UMC under the leadership of Rev. Nolan Robinson, where she worked with the Youth Department, was a Sunday school teacher, and was President of the United Women of Faith.  She also worked with many lay organization at the church.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memories: Three daughter, Kim Ishman, Robin (Chris) Green, & Jamie Ishman, all of Bogalusa, LA; eight grandchildren, Megan Mingo, Tremaine Ishman, Tre'Mekia Myres, Nylijah Mingo, Shedrick Spurlock, Chris Green II, Jaden Spurlock, and Elijah Foster; Six great-grandchildren, Jermaine Williams, Da"moni Williams, Auriana Williams, Golden Ootsey,III, Blu Spurlock, and Ny'Jae Williams, one unborn great-great grandchild; three sisters, Sandra Jones, Darleen Ishman, and Edna (Darryl) Brown; two brothers, Michael Ishman and Lloyd Lewis; and  her husband Curtis Hughes.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, James and Cora Ishman and four brothers, Donald, Gerald, Robert and Larry Ishman.
