Gertrude Hughes was born on May 19, 1954 to the late C. L. and Fannie Hughes in Mobile, Alabama, and departed this life on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her love ones.
Gertrude was a long time resident of Bogalusa. She was a member of Allen Temple Church of God in Christ. She attended Washington Parish Schools.
She leaves to cherish her memories; two (2) sons: Ronnell (Lorraine) Sartin of Bogalusa, LA, Patrick "PT" Sartin of Bogalusa, LA; one daughter, Anita (Jerome) Garrett of Franklinton, LA; two grandsons: Makih Sartin of Bogalusa and My'Quin Wilkes of TX; six granddaughters: Lawanna (Richard) Robinson, Ronnella Sartin , Aleigha (Kenyale) Sartin all of Bogalusa, LA, Whitney Sartin of Baton Rouge, LA, Rochelle Williams and Tisha (Cory) Pearson of Bogalusa; three sisters: Martha Dallas of Gulfport, MS, Rosa Hughes and Marlyin Dillon of Bogalusa; three brothers: W. C. Hughes and Sanders Hughes and Marvin (Annie) Hughes of Bogalusa; special friends: Yvette Bearden, Tirsha Myles, Janice Fields and Lisa Magee, and a host of nieces relatives and friends.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her life one companion, Johnny Lee Johnson; two children: Samuel Moses and Lawanna Moses; her parents: Fannie & C. L. Hughes, two brothers: D. L. "Jake" Hughes and Bobby "Santana" Hughes; two sisters: Mildred Brown and Danny Pearl Webb, one niece, Tyshekia Hughes and one nephew, Robert Brown.
