Geraldine "Jackie" Bennett was reared in Bogalusa, Jackie Graduated from Central Memorial High School.  She furthered her studies and completed nursing school from Pearl River Jr. College in May 1976 and became employed as a  registered nurse at Highland Park Hospital.  Jackie went on to span over 26 as registered nurse and Hospital Supervisor at Lakeview before retiring in 2006.

Mrs. Geraldine "Jackie" Bennett died peacefully on Monday evening, February 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at her home in Bogalusa.  She was born June 29, 1029, in Bogalusa, Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her parents, Willie "Bill" Crawford and Willie Bell Crawford; her husband, Varice Bennett, Jr; four sons, Kenneth Wayne, Harris Gregory, Steven Gerard, and Michael Ward; and two sisters, Beris Penn and Gayle Jenkins.

Jackie leaves behind to celebrate her life two devoted children: a daughter, Cynthia White, Dublin, Ohio and a son, Rodney Crawford, Bogalusa; one sister Sandra Lusk; three nieces, Barbara Ann Staples, Jamaica N.Y. and Willie E. Breaux, Bogalusa and Caitlin Lusk: two nephews, Willie Elliot Jenkins and Caleb Lusk;  12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
