Obituary

Fermon Short passed away on January 10, 2012, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Fermon was born August 28, 1948 in Bogalusa, Louisiana, to Tom and Elnora (Fields) Short.
He attended school in the Bogalusa School System (Class of 1969 at Central Memorial High School). Fermon later served with the United States Army in 1969 as member of the 289th Supply Company at Fort Hood, Texas. During Fermon's tour of duty in the military, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
Fermon had great love for sports especially football. During his high school days Fermon played football, basketball and ran track. His love for sports was always known because of dedication to thegame and a reputation of being a diehard New Orleans Saints (#1 Fan).
Fermon was born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Tom Short on August 28, 1948, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his brothers Curtis and Tommie Lee Short, sisters, Gloria Jean Dyson and Josephine McClain. He leaves to mourn a daughter, Cheyunski Henry of East Windsor, Conn., a son, Terrell Hoffman of Bogalusa, Louisiana, three grandchildren, three brothers, Jerome(Georgia) Short of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Willie(Pam) of the Netherlands, Donald (Charlotte) Short of Reserve, Louisiana, four sisters, Sadie Tate of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Annie Smith of Slidell, Louisiana, Adrean (Raymond) Batiste of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Denese (Walter) Bridges of New Orleans, Louisiana and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, 1/15/2012 at Cook-Richmond from 2-6p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, 1/16/2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Salter Chapel A.M.E. Church. Rev. Freddrick Fields, Officiating.
Interment Duffy Cemetery. Bogalusa, La.
