Life Reflections

A Time to Be Born
Edgie Lee Wells Peters was born in Cheraw, Mississippi to the late Luke and Emma Franklin Wells. She was the fifth of six children and the oldest of the two sisters born into this union.

A Time to Live
Edgie Lee attended elementary school at St. Paul Methodist Church in Cheraw, Mississippi and high school in Columbia, Mississippi at Marion County Training school. She and her younger sister Edna had to stay at a boarding house Monday through Friday with Mrs. Frisby to attend school because they did not have any transportation.

Edgie joined Saint Paul United Methodist Church and accepted Christ as her savior at an early age. Later in life Edgie was united in holy matrimony to the late Hilton Peters. To this union, ten children were born. They resided in Varnado, LA where she joined New Zion Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health failed. Edgie served as a choir member, mission member, and part of the kitchen staff. She also prepared food for the revival at her family church in Cheraw, MS. She loved both churches.

A Time to Mourn
Edgie leaves loving memories with seven (7) living children: Larry Peters of Baton Rouge, LA; Mary (Craig) Wilson of Bogalusa, LA; Jacqueline (Van) Sims of Oberlin, PA; Brendolyn Peters of Harrisburg, PA; Inez (Benny) Mickle of Pageland, SC; Warren (Eva) Peters of Bogalusa, LA; Patricia Spears of Hummelstown, PA; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Peters and Freddie Peters; four brothers and their wives: Lic and Hattie Mae Wells, Willie and Earlee Wells, Rodger and Vichie Wells, Junior and Susie Wells and one sister Edna and J. D. Walker.

A Time to Rest
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death neither sorrow, no crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
