Dorothy Kilbourne Johnson was born in Bogalusa, La, on January 4, 1944 to the late Sarah and Louis Brown. Dorothy was baptized at a young age at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and ultimately served as the president of the Pastor's Aide Committee and a member of the Women's mission there. She attended Central Memorial High School and showed great pride for her alma mater throughout the years. She went on to obtain an associate's degree in nursing from Sullivan Vocational-Technical in 1974. This led to her employment as an LPN at Charity Hospital. In 1975, she began working at Crown Zellerbach paper mill where she worked until she retired.
She is survived by her 2 siblings, Brenda Brown of Arlington, TX and Richard Brown of Chicago, IL. Dorothy also leaves behind 7 children: Kenneth Johnson, Vicki Johnson, Johnny Johnson III, Danna (Tamon) Dawson-Hampton all of Bogalusa, Donna (Jerome) Graves of Desoto, TX, Karen (Kelvin) Cormier of Chula Vista, Ca and Glynnis Johnson of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; LaShorea Johnson, Jabari Bridges, Renardia Brown, Kevren Cormier, Kierra Cormier, Roderick Tillman II, Zion Graves, Xavion Graves Tristan Graves, Jahanna Johnson, Johnny Johnson IV and Johniya Johnson. She also leaves to cherish her memory 5 great grandchildren. Dorothy leaves behind 2 special nieces who she helped rear as her own, Bridget Myles Randall of Arlington, TX and Raquel Myles of Riverside, California and an honorary niece, Terri Mangrum Dillon of Bogalusa, La.
Preceding her in death were her parents Sarah and Louis Brown. Sisters, Janie Bridges, Bobbie Jean Thompson and Bernice Cook and her brothers, Albert Kilbourne, Alton Kilbourne, Jessie Kilbourne Jr, Karl Brown and Leroy Brown. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Stephanie Jervonne Johnson.
