In the Life of Doris Robertson  featuring "Mikey"

Doris "Mikey" Robertson touched the earth on August 22, 1930.  She was born to the parents Maggie Washington Robertson and William Robertson.  She resided in St. Helena parish with her brothers, Woodrow, LT, and William and her sisters Moezella, Mariah, Ester Mae and Elaine.  She loved to help wherever so could, so she went to work at an early age.   She attended O.W. Dillon School.

She became a mother to Ester Solina Robertson-Bickham on July 24 1951 in Tangipahoa Parish.

She also became  heavily involved in the ministry.

She was baptized at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Tangipahoa parish.  She fellowshipped here and also became a missionary under the leadership of Rev. Garner, Rev Ivy Williams, and Missionary Ora D Williams.  She built a bridge between Temple Chapel Baptist Church in Kentwood and Sweet Home Baptist Church, by traveling  to whichever her spirit led her to go. She also served as a  choir member to both churches and a usher as well.  She served faithfully for over 50 years.

To fast forward through her life, in the 1970's  she became a grandmother to 3 boys, Charlie D. Bickham (Tietta) Puyallup. WA, Darren R. Bickham (Houston, TX)  and Greg G Bickham (George) New Orleans, LA.

In the 1980's she had another grandson Patrick S. Bickham, Seattle, WA, and oldest  granddaughter Tameka M. Bickham (Leonard Moses)  Angie, LA.

And last but not  least the 1900's she had her final piece to her grandchildren, Amander D. Bickham, Franklinton, LA. She worked as a domestic worker for two people and  cooked for one and retired after 40 years, Mrs. Evelyn Bridges a friend and kindred spirit.

Now let me tell you about "Mikey", she loved sweets! Any kind of sweets, she was asking for it and it never stood a chance.  Little children didn't either because  she spoiled them rotten every chance she got.  She was very observant  even borderline nosey, but she did it all out of love.  She never minded speaking her truth or cracking a joke or two at your expense.  She was a fashion statement  walking and her smile lit up a room.  She enjoyed cooking, jewelry , perfume, makeup, fashion  and more.  Most importantly  she loved the Lord and this was her passion.  In her spare time she spent it loving on us and spending time with her nieces, great nieces and nephews.

In her latter days, she made a home in Franklinton, LA where she fellowshipped at Sweet Rest Missionary Baptist Church Franklinton, LA where she was loved and accepted and cherished deeply.  She loved her visits from great friends: Mrs. Emma Route and Min Donnie Wheeler (Margeret) , Faith In The Word Ministry, Franklinton, La and their loving pastor Jacob Tate(Renet).  They came to visit her often until she departed and their loving son Minister Jacob Tate (F.T.T.W.M.)

She leaves her love, light, laughter and spirit along with her wisdom, examples and strength.

She leaves to cherish : a loving daughter, a son in law, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.. The generation love you and we live on because of your sacrifices, Now let's celebrate with her and rejoice for her because the heaven received their daughter and she's dancing across heaven's floors!
