Obituary

Sis. Debra Magee Berry was born October 1, 1961 to the late James "Straight" and Leotha Smith Magee.

Sis Debra Berry departed this life on July 15, 2019 at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa La.  Debra graduated from Caver High School in New Orleans, La. She surrendered her life to Christ at a young age at Rose Chapel Church in New Orleans La.  After moving back to Franklinton  LA she joined Union Chapel A.M.E. of Kentwood, LA under the leadership of Rev. Sherman Berry where she remained until her death.  Sister Berry was an employee of RestCare and Heritage Manor in Franklinton also Forest Manor in Covington La for a career sum total  of fifteen years of service, caring for others until her health failed. Debra was married to the late James Berry and also the late Alton Dawson.

All though Sister Berry was not a biological mother she helped out throughout the community, she embraced Kentrell Pryor and Eric Magee as her sons.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Anthony "Bo" Magee.

She leaves to cherish her memories a special friend, Joe  "Joe Man" Davis Jr, a step-daughter, Tokeya Berry and three grandchildren; Nikki, Octavia, and Kee. three brothers, Alvin Gregory(Rose) Magee of Hackley La Reginald (Sharon) Magee of Sandy Hook MS Mr. Roger Magee of BatonRouge LA.  Three sisters Vanessa (Donald) Magee of Bogalusa, LA; Monique (Paul) James of Franklinton LA; Faye Patterson of Dallas Texas. A host  of aunts, uncles nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends.
