David Ray Johnson was born to Gloria Dean Allen and the late Alfred Johnson Jr, On November 29, 1955 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He was the grandson of the late Gladys and Edward (Eddie) Allen and the late Ethel and Alfred Johnson, Sr.
Dave as he was so affectionately known as departed this life for his eternal home on February 06, 2020 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington, Louisiana. Dave accepted Christ at an early age, attending Zion Chapel AME Church as a choir member and as Sunday School attendee.
Dave Attended Fifth Ward Jr. High where he played basketball, volleyball, softball and ran track. He graduated from Covington High School in 1975 before enrolling in the United States Army. After serving his country, he was honorably discharged. Some might not have known that Dave enjoyed traveling, he spent time in Los Angeles California, (employed at Lockheed-Martin Aerospace). He later spent time in Detroit, Michigan (working at various manufacturing plants). He then returned back to Sun where he was employed at O'Keene Feed Store in Covington, Louisiana.
Dave had a sweet spirit that illuminated wherever he went. He loved helping other, he took joy in his barbecuing skills and loved going every evening to play his pick three numbers, in which would regularly hit. Dave loved his family He would teach his son Darrius life lesson; he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each one of his brother and sisters had a special place in his heart, but a much larger place in that heart belonged to his mother Gloria, the matriarch of this fin clan.
Dave leaves to morn and cherish his life here on this earth, his son Darrius Andrews of Sun, La, daughter Tashun Lattimore of Dallas Texas, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his mother Gloria Dean Allen Johnson of Sun LA; brothers; Melvin Johnson, Ray Anthony Johnson and Gregory Johnson all of Sun, LA; Sisters: Debra Jackson of Sterling Heights, Michigan;Regina Johnson of Slidell, LA; Sister-in-Laws, Sherrie Ann Marigny Johnson of Covington, LA, and Yvonne Mondy-Johnson; Uncles;Paul Allen Sr (Nelda) of Atlanta, Georgia; Douglas McArthur, Allen (Shirley) of Los Angeles, CA ; Aunt Lee Edna Young (Robert) of Mitchell City. Lots of Nephews nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. His special friends; Pancho and Pat, Denise and Richard Brown.
