Mrs. Chinese Amelia Keil- Peters was born May 12, 1938 to Percy and Bessie T. Keil of Bogalusa, LA. As a child, she was very determined which led to her being advanced from 5th grade to the 7th grade in school. She went on from high school to further her education at Southern University in Baton Rouge where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1962. She utilized this degree with the Bogalusa School System from 1962-1995. She was ever ready to encourage her students to perform at the top of their ability, never accepting "less than" regardless of barriers or limitations. She received a National Teacher Award while teaching the 6th grade. Through education, she impacted the lives of generation of children.
Mrs. Keil- Peters would do anything she could to help people. She stated her secret to success was listening to her father's advice, getting her education, being smart about her money, making sure she had what she needed before getting what she wanted, and most importantly making God a priority in every aspect of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Bessie T. Keil, spouse Otha S. Peters, Jr. and siblings, Ruth Jenkins Howard, Mary Louise Spires, Alfred Lord Keil, Lee Ethel Menendez, Andrew Keil and Gloria Steen Terrell.
She leaves to mourn her transitioning, her sister, Barbara J. Chatman of Biloxi, Ms, brothers Richard(Waver) Keil of Bogalusa,LA and Larry Keil of Houston Tx, grandchildren, Sylvia Nelson, Angela Peters and Isaac Peters of Varnado, LA, god children Malcolm Chatman of Sumter, SC and Keandrys Dalton of Baton Rouge, LA, special great niece Marchell Navarre of Arlington, Tx as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and a plethora of cousins, friends, associates colleagues and acquaintances.
