I hear a voice you cannot hear. which says I must not stay, I see a hand you cannot see which beckons me away!

At an early age, Charles joined Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Johnson. He moved his membership to a Pentecostal Church under Rev. Joseph where he continued to serve the Lord. Later in life, Charles joined Pope Memorial COGIC in Greensburg, LA under the leadership of Supt. J. W. Steward. He rejoined his home church, Oak Ridge, under the leadership of Dr. Phillip A. Williams in 2010.

Charles was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Letha M. Buchanan; to this union one child was born, the late Hosea Buchanan. In 1972, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Amie Commadore Buchanan and to this union five children were born and raised.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife of 44 years Amie Buchanan; two sons: Billy (Cynthia) Commadore of Covington, LA; Ricky (Rose Mary) Commadore of Kentwood, LA; three daughters: Tygerlynn Bridges of New Orleans, LA; Princess (Anthony) Stephen of Wilmer, LA and Susan (Marcia) Buchanan of Houston, TX; one brother, Norah (Catherine) Buchanan of Wilmer, one sister, Albertha Daniel of Atlanta, GA; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Prince and Jessye Buchanan; one son, Hosea Buchanan, one brother, Joseph Buchanan, and two sisters, Georgia Maye Jackson and Ruth Cutrer.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Kentwood, LA at 12:00 pm, Rev. Dr. Phillip A. Williams, Eulogist

Interment, Good Hope Cemetery, Wilmer, LA
