Catherine Taylor was born in Poplarville, Ms. to the late Tom and Edna Battiest on October 31, 1921. She departed this life on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Bogalusa, la. Catherine met Alcie Taylor, Sr. at a young age they instantly became best of friends and fell in love. They were married on December 26, 1938 and out of this union they were blessed with 10 children. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Zion Baptist Church and served diligently as a member, where she was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. E.D. Burns.
Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will always be remembered by those who loved her and knew her as the unselfish giver that wanted the best for everyone.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Annie Mae Buchanan, a brother, Curtis Battiest, One daughter, Patricia (Ba-Ba) Slocum; 4 sons, Alvin, Eugene, Derolodi (Ra'John) and Gregory Taylor; and a grandson, Stanley E. Slocum.
Catherine leaves to cherish her loving memories to her husband, Alcie Taylor, Sr., one son; Alcie (Sharon) Taylor, Jr of New Orleans, La., 4 daughters; Mary Lillian (Siebert) Ross of San Joes, Ca, Edna Earl (Harold) Butler of Milwaukee, WI, Mary Catherine (late Kenneth) Dones of Houston, Tx, Angelica Taylor, of Houston, Tx; A grandson and grand-daughter reared like a son and daughter; Darryl Darnell Taylor , Hayward, Ca, and Tonya R. Butler of Bogalusa, La; A dear great-grandchild Turquoise Cotton of Bogalusa, La; A loved grand-daughter Catherine (Lil Cat) Taylor, 3 nieces; Effie Ruth Richards, of Bogalusa, La, Burnetta Buchanan of Bogalusa, La, Sharon Battiest-Williams of Bronx, New York and a host of nieces ,nephews, family, and friends.
