Obituary

Mrs. Catherine McCoy was born to the late Willie Brown, Sr. and Julia Osbrooks on February 18, 1933 in Port Gibson, Ms. At a early age, she united with the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Silver Creek, Ms. After the death of her grandmother, Mrs. Jenny Osbrooks, she moved to Bogalusa, La. where she united with the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.J. Nelson. Later, she moved to Sweet Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. M.K. Duncan. While at Sweet Beulah, she taught bible class through the Maggie Barnes Mission. Later in life, she moved to New Triumph Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. E.L. Powell.
She was preceded in death by her parents husband, Henry McCoy, Sr. parents Willie Brown, Sr. and Julia Morris, and one brother, Willie "Tillie" Brown, II. and her step father, Howard Morris.On June 14, 1950, she was united in Holy Matrimony with Henry McCoy, Sr. and to this union were born seven children: Henry "Mackie" McCoy of Hammond, La. Adele McCoy of New Orleans, La. Tony McCoy of Newark, New Jersey, Timothy (Anionette) McCoy of Chattanooga, Tn., Elliot (Damena) McCoy of Covington, La. Todd (Jerelyn) of Gulfport, Ms. And Roslynn McCoy of Mandeville, La. Also a granddaughter she raised from an infant, Toni (Mike) McElroy of Norfolk, VA. and a special nephew, Willie Brown, III. Grandchildren: Joshua Alleygood, Jamal, Jashad, and Jonathan McCoy, Toni McElroy, Henson McCoy, Chynna and Timothy McCoy, II, Danielle Bickham, Darcel East, Daria Fuqua, David and Dorian McCoy, Rashad Sellers, Eljyn Rayford, Delisa McCoy, and Grayson and Dayona McCoy. She had 15 great grand children and 2 sisters-in-law, Doris Brown and Vivian Peters. A special friend, Mrs. Laura Peters.
A host of nephews and nieces and many people in christ whose lives she touched. As many people whose lives she impacted her family that much more. Mom, You will be missed. Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2013 at New Triumph Baptist Church from 11-1p.m. following with the Funeral Service at 1p.m.
