Obituary

Casandra Robertson Ross was born to the late Samuel and Josie Robertson on May 17, 1949 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. She departed this life on January 28, 2013 in Covington, Louisiana.
As a child, she joined the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she served on several auxiliaries including Usher Board and Vacation Bible School. She later joined the New Triumph Baptist Church to be united with her husband under one church as a family. While there, she served on the finance committee, senior mission board, pastors support auxiliary, vacation bible school, and the scholarship foundation.
Casandra was a graduate of Central Memorial High School Class of 1967. In 1970 she was united in holy matrimony with her high school sweetheart, Larry Otis Ross. Three sons were born to this union. She furthered her education at Meadows-Draughon Business College (1967) and Sullivan Vocational and Technical College (2002) receiving certified training in clerical skills and administrative staff support.She began her employment at Berenson Men's Clothing and Rosenblum's in sales and alterations for many years. In 1989, she gained employment with the Bogalusa City Schools until her retirement this past year. She started in the system as a paraprofessional for many years. After many years of hard work and dedication, she was promoted to school secretary serving at Pleasant Hill Elementary and Bogalusa High School.
Casandra loved working with young people! She mentored many young students at BHS on clerical etiquette and served in many capacities involving youth including; BHS Future Homemakers of America (FHA), Sisters and Brothers United, (SBU) and as sponsor/secretary of the Voices of Joy Interdenominational Gospel Choir. She battled many health conditions from early on in life, but she was determined not to allow this from letting her enjoy life. She loved God, her family/friends and helping others. Her warm smile and gentle words will be forever missed.She is survived by her three sons: Dewayne (Lisa) Ross of Berwyn, IL, Wilon (Crystal) Ross of Maywood, IL and Mark Ross of Bogalusa, LA; a sister, Bettye (Richard) Puryear, of Chicago, IL, a god-daughter, Tasha Stalling of Bogalusa, LA a sister-in-law, Mary P Muldrow, of Antioch, CA, six grandchildren, LaShondra Lotts of Baton Rouge, LA, Marcus and Markeitha Lowery of Bogalusa, Keyon and Caytlyn Ross of Maywood, IL, DeLaurence Ross of Berwyn, IL, one great-grand child Bria Lowery of Bogalusa, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Larry O. Ross, her parents, Josie (Samuel) Robertson and her siblings James Banks and Pearlina Robertson. Visititation will be Friday, February 1,2013 2-5,Family hour 6-7 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home,Funeral Service will Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11am at Mt. Camel Baptist Church,Officiating,Rev.
