Obituary

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind , and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14.

Sister Carrie B. Roberts Horn was the first of six children born to the union of the late Leon Roberts and Ruthanna Jefferson Roberts in Hub, MS on January 10, 1919. After graduating from high school, Sister Horn moved to CA. She later met Brother W. L. Horn, and was united in Holy Matrimony in 1954. In 1959, the Horns moved to Angie, LA.

Sister Horn reunited with the Live Oak United Methodist Church in Angie, LA under the leadership of Rev. albert E. Franklin. She was a very active member at both the local and district church levels. She served as Chairperson of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Church Lay Leader, Communion Steward, Sunday School Teacher, United Methodist Women's Treasurer, and the Church Treasure. At the district level, she served on the District Council on Ministry and at the conference level, on the Town and Country Ministry.

Preceding her in death was her parents, her son, Earnest Spikes, Sr.; one sister, Mrs. Minnine Ashley; two brothers, Hersey L. Roberts, Sr. and Hollis Roberts, Sr. and a godson, Dione Weary.

She leaves to mourn her passing one grandson, Earnest (Stephanie) Spikes, Jr., of Angie, one granddaughter, Janice (Shelton) Jefferson of Columbia, MA; five great grandsons: E. Quenzell (Amy) Spikes, Preston Spikes, of Angie, Brandon Harry, of San Antonio, TX, Larry (Tamara) Johnson and Lester (Shakies) Johnson of Columbia, MS; two great great grandsons, Jermaine Sanders and Quentin Spikes; three great great granddaugthers, Dorlissia Robinson, Miya Harry, and Jaliah Harry; eleven other great great grandchildren, two great great great grandchildren, a special daughter-in-law, Mrs. Edna E. Bickham; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
