Mrs. Bettie Jane (Price) Hathorn was born in Prentiss, Mississippi, October 16, 1940 to Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Price. Bettie graduated from Prentiss Institute and furthered her education at Florida A& M University.

She married the love of her life John H. Hathorn on May 7, 1960. She had many jobs but retired from Foleys/Macys department store after 20 years. Bettie was a very lively and energetic person who loved all mankind, especially her family. Bettie was known as the point of contact for the Richmond family. It was often said, "If you want to know something," call Bettie. Aunt Edna referred to her "as her newspaper." Bettie Jane Price Hathorn departed this life on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, in Bassfield, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents:

Mrs. Fannie Mae Richmond and Mr. Woodrow Price; grandparents: Mr.Benjamin F. and Mrs. Bessie C. Richmond; brothers: Carl C. B. Price and Jesse B. Richmond; aunt: Bessie Irene Richmond Magee; and other aunts, uncles and relatives.

Although Bettie and John didn't have any biological children, she was instrumental in raising her niece Teresa Price of Houston, TX. She was also Godparents to Yolanda Harper (Roland) of Bassfield, MS and Jonathan Harvey of Kentucky.

Left to cherish her memories are her loving and devoted husband of 64 years: John Hathorn of Bassfield, MS; a devoted aunt: Mrs. Edna Marie Foxworth, of St. Louis, MO; one half-sister: Joyce Price of California; and one half-brother: Phillip Price of Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her dearly.
