Missionary Bertha Osbey Simmonds was called by God to come to her heavenly mansion at the age of 85. On Friday, August 9, 2013. Missionary Simmonds was born to the late Oliver and Mattie Lenards Osbey on July 12, 1928 in Tylertown, Mississippi. She left Bogalusa at a young age and moved to New York that's where she met her husband for 49 years. She worked at a hospital as a nurse. She worked for many years there, she retired and came back to Bogalusa to be a caregiver to her aunt missionary Rosa Allen until aunt departed this earth. She was an active member in the church at St. John Temple of God in Christ and First Church of God In Christ where she became a Missionary. She became ill and had to be hospitalized and was unable to take care of herself. She was unable to return home. She went to Resthaven Living Center. She took ill and was hospitalized at LSU for a while and went to AMG hospital until she departed this life on August 9, 2013. She leaves to cherish her 2 sisters; Vergie Osbey Scott. Alice (Raymond) Smith both of McComb, Mississippi. and 4 brothers; Leslie Osbey of New Orleans, La. Oscar J. (Marie) Osbey of Paris, Calf. Micheal (Janice) Osbey an Paul (Dian) Osbey all of Maganolia, Ms. one aunt Malissa Osbey flowers of Chicago,IL A devoted loving caregiver her niece Phyllis Jackson, her niece Nequa young, very special nephews L.B. (Phyllis) Jackson L.S. Jackson both of Bogalusa, La. Valerie Lamb, Trina Lamb & Antoinette Lamb all of New York City and Missionary Carolyn Turner of Bogalusa, La. A host of nieces & nephews, family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis A. Simmonds of 49 years. Her parents Oliver and Mattie Lenards Osbey. 5 sisters. Tommie Lee Peters Wilbert, Annie Ruth Peters, Ethel Osbey Brown, Lucile Osbey & Carolyn Ann Osbey. & 5 brothers Valmone Peters Rev. L.C. Peters, Stenis Peters, Charles M. Osbey & Bennie Osbey & A aunt Rose Allen.
