Obituary

Sister Barbara Godbolt Norris, affectionately known as " Tee Bobby", was born to the late J.D. and Louise Godbolt, Sr. in New Orleans, La. On March 3rd , 1941. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Bogalusa where they began to build their family. Early in Life, she became a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church family under the leadership of Rev. E.D. Burns and later Rev. Dr. Atwood J. Luter, where she remained a faithful member.
Barbara was united in holy matrimony to Donald Fletcher Norris on December 26, 1967 until his death in 2007.
Barbara graduated from Central Memorial High School in 1961. She was a very popular student and was a member of the Majorette dance team. Upon graduation, Barbara attended Grambling State University. After her years at Grambling State University, she became a substitute teacher and later became a "Teacher of Children" at her home. Tee Bobby reared her nieces and nephews and touched the lives of many other children.
She taught goals and family values that had a major impact on everyone. Her influence and guidance were the driving forces in the lives of her "children". Tee Bobby had such a beautiful spirit and personality, few could resist her charm.She taught goals and family values that had a major impact on everyone. She was an active member of the Triple S. Service Club where she served as Vice-President for many years. She leaves to cherish her memories: her son whom she reared Trevor Godbolt of Bogalusa, La; sister, Shirley Godbolt Holloway of Bogalusa, La; sister, Cheryl Mason of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, J.D. Godbolt, Jr. and Lamont Godbolt, both of Bogalusa, La; brother, Alfred Brown of New Orleans, La.; sister-in-law, Brenda Spann Godbolt of Bogalusa, La;sister-in-law, Brenda Washington Godbolt of Amite, La.; children whom she reared, Rachelle (William) Stewart, JeTaun Godbolt, Natasha (Marquel) Oatis, Parrish (Nekeisha) Godbolt, and Passion Godbolt Cotton both of Houston, Tx; god-son, Bradford Brown of Atlanta, Ga; god-daughters, Caitlyn Lusk of Bogalusa, La and Chiquita "Nikki" Robertson of Boston, MA; special friends, Carolyn Grinstead, JoAnna Frazier, Trudy Brister, Annette Crumedy, Dorothy Ratliff and Janice Cooley all of Bogalusa, La and Vivian Torrence Prophet of Marrero, La; and a number of other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Norris; parents, J.D. Godbolt, Sr. and Louise Smith Godbolt; brothers, Ellis Godbolt, Sr., and Benny Godbolt; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Godbolt; god-brother, Larry Dillon; Aunts, Johnny Mae Fields and Hazel York; nephew, Ellis Godbolt, Jr., and cousins, Mamie Martin and Earl Ratcliff.
