Arthur Ray "Big Six" Mingo, 78, a resident of Bogalusa, LA silently drifted away to Glory on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at Northshore Specialty Hospital.
Arthur was a very active youth at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized under the divine leadership of the late Reverend B. B. Moses.
A lifelong logger and pulpwood hauler for Crown Zellerbach, he dedicated his life to supporting his family. As a devoted father and community friend, he believed in "Giving." His motto in life was "Its better to give than to receive." All that knew "Big Six" knew he was a man of his word. His word was his bond.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Mrs. Ruby Lee Foster Mingo of Bogalusa, LA; 10 children, Sandra (Robert) Robinson of Varnado, LA, John (Avonta) Mingo and Debra Mingo, both of Bogalusa, LA, Arthur A. Mingo of Varnado, LA, Phlesher Mingo, Cedric Mingo, Billy (Donnia) Mingo, Brandon Greely, Byron Greely, and Darrious Greely all of Bogalusa, LA; one sister, Betty Ruth Young of Los Angeles, CA; 36 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; his extended families that supported and uplifted his life "The Walker Family" and his "Conversational Porch Buddies", and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gabriel and Nancy Mingo, his siblings, Edgie Lee Mingo, Ollister Mingo, Nettie Faye Foster, Carrie Mingo, Johnny Morris, Charles Mingo, Catherine Moses, Earline Mingo, & R.T. Mingo
Visitation will be held Friday, September 23, 2011, at Cook Richmond Funeral Home of Bogalusa, LA from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. followed by a Family Hour 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Funeral Service will be Saturday, Sept. 24 at Mount Zion Baptist Church at 12:00. Rev. Linzae Cotton, Officiating
