On Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 3:45 pm, the angel of death came to Post Acute Specialty Hospital in Hammond, LA to bore the sweet, quiet spirit of our dear Angus Xantippy James.
Angus X. James was born on March 1, 1944 to Delettie W. Coon and the late Chester James. He began his education in the Washington Parish School System at Vernon elementary. He worked at Kentwood Brickyard as well as on the Chicago Railroad. Angus served in the United States Army for two years.
Angus joined Silver Creek AME (Union Chapel) Church at an early age. He remained a member throughout his entire life.
On June 23m 1968, he was joined in holy matrimony to Faye Dean Fox and to this union two sons and one daughter was born.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Faye Dean James; son, Reginald James; daughter, Veronica James; mother, Delettie Coon; four (4) brothers, Vance (Linda) James, Albert Ray (Debra), James, Jimmy James and Bryant James; five (5) sisters, Shirlene Dyson, Betty Stirgus, Ella Mae James, Helen James, and Patricia James; step-children, Neisha Fox, Lakeisha James, Anthony James, Kelvin James, and Carlton James; ,seven (7) grandchildren and eleven (11) great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester, James; son, Kenneth DeWayne James; step-father Ollie Coon; brother-in-law, Alphonse Dyson; and nephew, Joel Dyson; brother-in-law, ,Leon Stirgus.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon. Funeral service was at 12:00 noon, Rev. Sherman Berry Officiating. Interment in Union Chapel Cemetery.
